AI/Deepfake
Video claiming to show an elephant rescuing a tiger during the deadly floods in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Here is the archived version of a post that has clocked 1.3 million views. The death toll from the cyclone-induced floods and landslides, which destroyed houses and forced people into evacuation centres on Sumatra in late November, reached 1,030, with 206 people still missing, according to official data.
Newschecker did not find any such video featured in the extensive coverage of the deadly floods. Also, the blurry image quality of the tiger, and the overly smooth texture of the water, strongly suggest that the video was generated using AI.
We ran a couple of screengrabs past WasitAI, an AI-image detector, which was quite confident that the images, or significant parts of it, were created by AI. Similarly, AIorNot found it likely to be AI-generated.

We then ran an excerpt of the video past Hive Moderation, which said it was 98.6% likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content, hence confirming the viral video is not of a real incident.
