Did PM Narendra Modi Announce A Free-Bike Scheme For Chhath Puja? No, Viral Video Is AI-Manipulated

Claim

Video claiming to show PM Narendra Modi announcing a special government scheme for Chhath Puja where citizens can get a Splendor motorcycle for free. The PM purportedly urges everyone to like the video and to fill a form available upon pressing a link to book the vehicle.

The archived version of the post can be seen here. We also received this video on our Whatsapp tipline (+91-9999499044), requesting us to fact-check it.

Fact

Newschecker first conducted a keyword search for “PM Narendra Modi free bike scheme Chhath Puja”, which did not lead us to any credible media reports or official announcements supporting the viral video. We also looked up the Centre’s MyScheme portal and Press Information Bureau’s official website where we did not find any information on the purported scheme.

We can clearly see that the audio is not in sync with the lip movements of PM Modi video, along with sounding unnatural and monotonous, raising our doubts on whether it was AI-generated.

Newschecker ran a reverse image search of keyframes, which led us to this September 27, 2025 video uploaded by PM Modi’s official Youtube channel, where the PM speaks about the country implementing the next-generation GST reforms. We found no mention of any free bike scheme by the PM in the nationwide address that was delivered on September 21, 2025.

We then ran the video and audio past these deepfake detection tools:

Hiya Deepfake Detector: Flagged the audio as “likely a deepfake.”

Resemble Deepfake Detector: Confirmed the audio as fake.

Deepfake-O-Meter: Seven out of 12 detection models indicated high probability of AI manipulation, with some classifiers marking it 99%–100% fake.
