Viral Video Showing Monkey Firing Gun As Soldier Sleeps Is AI-Generated

A video circulating online claims to show a monkey playing with an Indian soldier’s gun and accidentally firing it while the soldier is asleep.

Fact

A close analysis of the viral clip reveals multiple visual inconsistencies that strongly indicate the use of AI. Both the monkey and the soldier appear unnaturally deformed in several frames, a common sign of AI-generated imagery.

Further, an AI analysis conducted on Hive Moderation detected a 93.8% likelihood that the video is AI-generated or deepfake content.

Stills from the clip run through Sightengine also returned results suggesting they were likely created using AI. Similarly, the tool WasItAI concluded that it was “quite confident that this image, or significant part of it, was created by AI.”
