Truck driver seen cooking inside his vehicle moments before a deadly crash on the 10 Freeway in Ontario, California.
The clip’s visuals differ from the authentic crash footage, and evidence points to it being AI-generated.
A 21-year-old Indian-origin truck driver, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, was arrested last week for allegedly ramming his semi-truck into multiple vehicles on the 10 Freeway in Ontario, California, killing three people.
A video has since gone viral on social media, allegedly showing Singh cooking inside his vehicle moments before the collision. Users sharing the clip claim that the driver was preparing curry when the accident occurred.

A keyword search across major US media outlets yielded no credible reports mentioning that the truck driver was cooking before the crash. None of the official outlets carried the “cooking” segment circulating online.
A frame-by-frame comparison of the viral clip revealed inconsistencies. The scenery, lighting, and vehicle interior visible in the “cooking” scene do not match those in verified news footage of the Ontario crash.

Additionally, visual anomalies were evident in the clip — the man’s hand appears warped in certain frames, the seatbelt is incomplete, and the rearview mirror looks distorted. The ladle the man uses to stir the curry appears distorted — all signs of digital manipulation.

Although AI detection tools did not conclusively flag the clip as synthetic, similar videos (seen here, here and here) with the watermark of Sora (OpenAI’s AI video-generating model), featuring “truck drivers cooking curry”, have been widely circulated online.

The viral clip also bears a watermark, @vox_oculi, a social media account that identifies itself as “Satire General in The Great Meme War ✯ AI Wizard.” The video was posted on October 23, 2025, under this handle.
When contacted by Newschecker, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed they have not released any video footage related to the ongoing investigation of the crash.
Newschecker has reached out to the district attorney’s office and to a company mentioned in connection with the incident for more clarity regarding the purported dashcam footage and will update this copy once we receive a response.
