Fact
Upon close examination, inconsistencies were visible in the footage — particularly where the tiger and the guard appeared to blend unnaturally into the background in several frames, suggesting digital manipulation.

To verify, Newschecker analysed the clip using Hive Moderation, an AI detection tool, which indicated an 88.1% likelihood that the video was AI-generated or a deepfake. A screenshot of the clip examined through SightEngine further supported this, showing a 90% probability of being AI-created.

A keyword search for “Chandrapur tiger attack” yielded no credible media reports about such an incident. Additionally, the Chandrapur Forest Department confirmed that no tiger attack occurred in the Brahmapuri forest division. Chief Conservator of Forests (Prof.) R.M. Ramanujam stated that the department has taken serious note of the video’s circulation and that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible. The District Information Office, Chandrapur clarified on X that the video was created with the help of AI.
PIB Maharashtra also dismissed the claim, clarifying that the viral footage is AI-generated and not a real CCTV capture. Hence, we find that the viral video claiming to show a tiger attacking a guard in Chandrapur is AI-generated and not a genuine CCTV recording.

The video went viral amid reports that a farmer was killed in a tiger attack in Mysuru district on Friday, the third such death in the region (along the Bandipur-Nagarahole forest belt) in the past one month. At least 43 people have reportedly been killed near various tiger reserves or national parks from January-June 2025, on par with January-June 2024, when 44 people were killed by tiger attacks. A total of 110 and 82 people were killed in tiger attacks in 2022 and 2023, respectively (full dataset on Dataful here).
