Bihar Assembly Election 2025
A video shows a BJP leader being welcomed with a garland of shoes in Bihar amid the 2025 Assembly elections.
The video is old and unrelated to the Bihar polls. It actually shows a November 2018 incident from Dhamnod in Madhya Pradesh, where a BJP candidate was greeted with a shoe garland during a civic election campaign amid protests over water shortages
A video showing a BJP leader being welcomed with a garland of shoes is circulating on social media with the claim that it is from Bihar amid the 2025 Assembly elections.

Bihar’s 121 out of the total 243 assembly constituencies are voting on Thursday (November 6) in the first phase of a crucial triangular contest between BJP and Janata Dal (United) led-National Democratic Alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Indian National Congress-led Mahagathbandhan (or Grand Alliance) and Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party.
The same video had earlier gone viral during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with a similar false claim, which was debunked by Newschecker.
Newschecker found that the video is old and unrelated to the ongoing polls in Bihar. The clip dates back to November 2018, when BJP candidate Dinesh Sharma was greeted with a shoe garland in Dhamnod, Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, during a civic election campaign amid local anger over water shortages.
