Old Video From Gaza Shared As Indian Army’s Attack On Pakistan’s Sialkot

Amid the heightened tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad following the recent terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam, a video of people running to safety as massive explosions take place in the background, has gone viral on social media platforms. Those sharing the video allege that it shows the Indian Army’s attack on Sialkot in Pakistan.

Multiple X and Facebook users shared the footage claiming, “Al Jazeera Channel has released new footage of the Indian Army’s attack on Sialkot, Pakistan.” Newschecker, however, found the claim to be untrue.

“During the night of 30 April-01 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite Kupwara, Uri and Akhnoor in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir,” said Defence PRO Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal. Adding that the Indian Army “responded proportionately” to the same. This marks the seventh consecutive night of ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops. 

Fact Check/Verification

A keyword search for “Indian Army” and “Sialkot” on the official website of Al Jazeera did not yield any recent report carrying the viral clip. We skimmed through the official X account of Al Jazeera English but did not spot the same footage in the past 2 days.

We then looked up the keyframes of the viral clip on Google Lens which led us to an X post by Shehab News Agency, dated November 10, 2023. Carrying the same video, it stated, “Heavy Israeli shelling around the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip…” 

Taking these as a clue, we searched for “Gaza” and “Indonesian Hospital” in Arabic on the official YouTube channel of Al Jazeera Arabic, which yielded a report from November 9, 2023. It featured a longer version of the viral clip, and stated “A video clip showed violent airstrikes on the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip (translated from Arabic via Google)”

An X post by Al Jazeera English, dated November 10, 2023, also featured snippets from the  clip stating, “Video captured the moment a series of explosions rocked the vicinity of the Indonesian hospital in Gaza. The Palestinian interior ministry said the area was attacked by Israeli fighter jets.”

A AlArabiya Arabic report, dated November 9, 2023, also featured visuals from the same location as seen in the viral clip to show, “…violent raids around the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Conclusion

Hence, we find that an old video from Gaza has been falsely shared as the Indian Army’s attack on Pakistan’s Sialkot.
