Fact Check
A Pakistan army officer breaks down while addressing an event following the recent border conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan in October 2025.
The claim is false. The video has been available online since September 16, 2025, weeks before the border clashes.
A viral video claims to show a Pakistan army officer breaking down while addressing an event following the recent border conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan in October 2025.
Newschecker, however, found the video to be predating the recent escalation.

A reverse image search of the keyframes from the viral video led us to an Instagram post by Pakistan Military Assets – PMA, dated September 17, 2025. The post featured the same clip with the caption:
“Capt Waqar Ahmad Kakar 142 L/C ex 47 Cav, 135 W Ghaznabad Scouts FC Balochistan (N), along with four of his wing’s soldiers embraced martyrdom in an IED attack in Balochistan. He was born in Balochistan and embraced martyrdom in Balochistan.”
The post further mentioned that the officer seen in the video, identified as Major Izhar, grew emotional while recalling Captain Kakar’s life and sacrifice.

A Facebook post by Qabail News, dated September 16, 2025, also carried the same footage, stating, “Major Izhar cried repeatedly while describing the life circumstances of Captain Waqar Khan Kakar.” This establishes that the clip was recorded well before the October 2025 border conflict.
Additionally, news reports from mid-September 2025 (seen here, here and here) confirm that an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeted a Pakistani security forces vehicle in the Shand area of Mand, Balochistan. The explosion killed five military personnel: Captain Waqar Kakar, Naik Junaid, Naik Ismat, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad, and Sepoy Zahoo.
The viral video of a Pakistani army officer crying is not related to the recent conflict with Afghanistan. It has been available online since September 2025.
Q1. Does the viral video show a Pakistani officer reacting to the Afghanistan border clash?
No. The clip is from September 2025 and predates the recent Afghanistan–Pakistan border conflict.
Q2. Why is this video being linked to the Afghanistan–Pakistan clashes?
Because it resurfaced during a time of heightened cross-border tension, and users falsely connected it to ongoing events.
Q3. How can social media users verify such military-related videos?
By checking the original upload date, source profile, and reverse image/video search results on tools like Google Lens, InVID, or TinEye.
Q4. Why are emotional or military clips often misused online?
They are powerful visuals that easily evoke sentiment, making them attractive for spreading misinformation or propaganda.
