Fact Check
A viral video shows a man defacing a poster of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a protest over the tragic Tejas jet crash during the Dubai Airshow, in which the pilot was killed.

We did not find any verified news reports linking the poster defacement to the Tejas crash. The circulating claim appears to be based purely on speculation.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the video led to a post by Haryana Youth Congress State President Nishit Kataria, uploaded to Instagram on November 20, 2025 — one day before the Tejas aircraft accident in Dubai. The caption read: “Look what’s happening all over Haryana.”
The same clip was shared on the official X account of the Haryana Youth Congress on November 20, 2025, with the caption: “Those who blackened the face of democracy by relying on vote theft are now having their faces blackened…”

A report by The Tribune carried a screengrab from the same video, stating that the poster — featuring PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in connection with the Gita Jayanti Mahotsav — was mounted on a foot overbridge on National Highway-44, near Barsat Road in Panipat district.
Therefore, the context is related to local political dissent, not the Dubai airshow incident.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at the Dubai Airshow on November 21, 2025.

Since the video has been online since November 20, it cannot be a reaction to the crash.
Newschecker has not been independently able to ascertain other details of the video yet.

Hence, the claim that the viral video shows a man defacing PM Narendra Modi’s poster due to anger over the Tejas jet crash is false.
