Unrelated Video Shared As Accused Arrested In Chandan Mishra Murder Case

A 23-second video allegedly showing the accused in gangster Chandan Mishra’s murder in Patna, dragging themselves along the road while police personnel walk beside them, is being widely circulated on social media platforms.

Multiple X and Facebook users shared the footage claiming to show the “condition of Chandan Mishra’s shooters.” Newschecker, however, found the same to be untrue.

Chandan Mishra, a convicted gangster who was out on 15-day parole, was shot dead inside a private hospital in Patna on July 17. Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma said, “There was a gang named Chandan-Sheru and the way the shots were fired suggests that the murder was committed by a rival group, possibly due to internal conflict or personal enmity.” Mishra was sentenced to life in the 2011 murder of a trader. 

Fact Check/Verification

A reverse image search on the keyframes of the viral clip led us to a report by Navbharat Times, dated July 1, 2025, stated that the Rajasthan police publicly paraded four accused in the murder case of a liquor businessman in the Kotputli district. The report featured a snippet from the viral footage, taken from a slightly different angle, which is being linked to the Chandan Mishra murder case.

We then looked up keywords “liquor businessman,” “ murder accused,” “Kotputli” and “parade” in Hindi on Google, which yielded a report by Aaj Tak, dated July 1, 2025. The report carried a video of police parading the four accused on streets, including a snippet from the viral clip, and detailed about the murder of a liquor contractor, Sunil, in Kotputli district of Rajasthan on June 24.

The police arrested the four accused after an encounter, while mastermind Krishna Pehlwan was still at large. The accused reportedly attacked the police personnel, and were shot at in retaliatory firing. After their treatment, they were paraded on the streets, the report added.

An X post by News24, dated July 1, 2024, also carried the viral clip from a  different angle, corroborating that it shows the accused in the killing of a liquor contractor in Kotputli.

Prime Accused In Chandan Mishra Murder Case Arrested

The Kolkata Police arrested the prime accused in the Patna hospital murder case, Tausif Khan alias Badshah, and three others during a raid at a guest house in Anandapur. They were produced before the Alipore Police Court on Sunday and remanded to 48-hour transit custody. Five other accused in the case were also arrested from Kolkata’s New Town.
