The Indian women’s cricket team defeated Pakistan by 88 runs in a 2025 ICC World Cup match on Sunday (October 5, 2025) at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium. Now, a video allegedly showing Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana spraying deodorant/air freshener on the pitch during the match against India has gone viral online. It seems the clip was shared to target India’s players, sparking anger and online trolling.

🔹 No credible reports indicate that the Pakistani player sprayed deodorant in the air during the recent World Cup match against India.
🔹 A Hindustan Times report (October 5, 2025) featured a similar image of Sana with a container and explained that the Pakistan captain was combating insects on the pitch. The report also included an X post containing a longer version of the viral video.

🔹The Associated Press report on the October 5 India–Pakistan match noted that play was halted when swarms of insects invaded the field. It carried photographs showing Indian player Harleen Deol surrounded by insects and stadium workers fumigating the ground.
🔹 ESPN’s photo gallery from the match displayed multiple images of insects hovering over the pitch, Fatima Sana using spray, and a stadium screen reading “Play Suspended for Fumigation.”
